Dead and buried or risen and alive
There are many things that as human beings with sin-burdened minds we do not know about our God and Savior Jesus Christ. That is why He has given His Word to us so that we can touch His essence,His love and plan for us. There are also many beautiful spiritual books written by men and women led by the Spirit of God that speak of the beauty of Christ’s character, His mission on earth, His sacrifice, and the life He has prepared for us.
Today I opened again such a book, which I have read many times and continue to admire the wisdom and depth with which it is written… (I will leave a link to the book at the end of the article). And there I again remembered truths that I wish to share with you.
Still buried or risen and alive
Before that, however, I want to mention something related to Easter celebration that many Christians recently celebrated. Isn’t this holiday connected with Jesus Christ?! Unfortunately, with sadness in my heart and reluctance to write the next words, I observe that most people who call themselves Christians associate Easter only with rabbits, eggs, chickens and eating coockies. In some countries in Eastern Europe they greet each other on this day, saying enthusiastically: “Christ is risen (resurrected)” without adding any meaning.
They seem to dig Jesus out of the grave just once a year to say these words and the next day they bury Him again because they don’t need Him. How sad! Where is Christ in the remaining days, weeks, months of their lives?! In the grave! Dead to them, unnecessary, unbelieved…?!. You haven’t thought about it, have you?

So, to keep things from getting too dark, let’s get back to the pretty stuff.
Here are some facts about Jesus that you may not know:
- “As the Son of man, He gave us an example of obedience; as the Son of God, He gives us power to obey.
- So when He came “in the likeness of men,” He declared Himself the I AM. The Child of Bethlehem, the meek and lowly Savior, is God “manifest in the flesh.”
- “God with us” is the surety of our deliverance from sin, the assurance of our power to obey the law of heaven.
Christ was treated as we deserve, that we might be treated as He deserves. He was condemned for our sins, in which He had no share, that we might be justified by His righteousness, in which we had no share. He suffered the death which was ours, that we might receive the life which was His. “With His stripes we are healed.”
- By His life and His death, Christ has achieved even more than recovery from the ruin wrought through sin. It was Satan’s purpose to bring about an eternal separation between God and man; but in Christ we become more closely united to God than if we had never fallen.
- In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound Himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken. Through the eternal ages He is linked with us. “. In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound Himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken. Through the eternal ages He is linked with us.
“God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son.” John 3:16.
